’tis the season for the giving of gifts to friends and loved ones.  But Uncle Sam’s turn to receive is just around the corner!

Are you looking for some smart ideas on how to reduce your business’ tax burden this year?  We’ve got a few suggestions on things you can do right now in preparation for 2015 that will give you write-offs on your 2014 taxes.  Previously we talked about purchasing next spring’s small signs and banners to get the tax deduction now!  Of course we can’t forget our own favorite tax deductions – websites, and online marketing.

There are a lot of ways to increase your tax deductions through through your website and online marketing.  Of course, if your business doesn’t have a website yet, start there!  Even if you don’t have the time to work on it in December, getting the investment on this year’s books will qualify it as a write-off.

But perhaps you already do have a website and are still looking for some tax deductions.  There are still many web marketing costs that can be written off. For one, website hosting payments should be deductible, so make sure you claim those.  Also any investments made in graphics for your website, website maintenance or tuneups, or content/blog writing.  Not to mention paid Facebook ads, or social media management services such as what we provide for some of our own clients.  All these thing can be classified as a marketing expense and that means tax deductions!

Lastly, how does your site rank on search engines?  If you want to climb the ranks in 2015, talk to our team about SEO.  Optimizing your site for search engines (SEO) is a marketing expense and again, can be a great way to gather some tax savings.

Hope these ideas help.  If your business would like to see growth (and tax deductions) from any of these marketing efforts, be sure to let us know!  Got any other ideas of your own?  Please SHARE this article, and post your comments below!
