We’ve all been there, trying to save money and only to end up spending more in the long run. Like buying a cheap microwave that broke after a month. The repair cost? Almost the same as its original price. Worst of all was the hassle of finding a reliable repairman, delivering the item, hunting down a replacement part, and waiting for everything to be done. Sometimes, you’d rather just pay more upfront to avoid the headache.
Now, let’s go back to cheap hosting and what we know so far. We are not the cheapest (but also not the most expensive) website hosting provider.
We’re more expensive than most “cheap” options, but for good reason. And with a monthly plan to make things easier for small businesses.
A client of ours jumped to another provider (cheaper), but quickly came back, and shared her experience.
Not getting a prompt response
Most cheap website hosting providers fall into one of two categories: they’re either too small or too big. When a provider is too small, they’re often understaffed—especially during a server crisis, which directly impacts your website. They usually aren’t proactive about server-side security and won’t alert you to known security issues on your site.
For BIGGGG companies, support becomes frustrating. You might face long phone queues, slow chat responses, and get pushed toward vague do-it-yourself guides. Instead of real help, you’re stuck wasting time following a generic script. Even when backups are included, they’re often not set up automatically—leaving you unprotected without realizing it.
If you’re considering switching providers, ask how many people are on their team and how many clients they currently host. Then do the simple math.
In our support team, it is as personal as knowing exactly who will pick the phone when you call. In figures, 93% of our client’s requests are completed within 24 hours, and complex tasks are usually done in 2–4 business days. If you call our support number now, as long as you’re reading this during our office hours (9 AM–5 PM), Michelle won’t let it ring too long. Many of our clients praise her for her quick response!
No website monitoring and/or no regular maintenance
Small businesses are busy (as we know from personal experience).
Website monitoring and maintenance shouldn’t be your responsibility. Your web host should take care of that for you. So you can focus on your business. And a regular maintenance check will catch issues before they become a problem that costs you business.
Charges for extra features
When the hosting is cheap, it’s common that you overlook other important features and don’t realize it until it’s too late. By the time you do, you end up paying more – a LOT more.
One very expensive mistake is not having a plan in case your website gets hacked. If your provider even offers site recovery as a separate service (and many don’t), it definitely won’t be cheap. Even hiring third-party IT help will cost hundreds, or even thousands. Sadly, we’ve seen businesses whose only option was to start over with a brand-new site.
It’s as ridiculous as if someone sold you a bicycle without brakes. Then, after you take a nasty spill, they showed up offering to repair the bike for an extravagant charge!
Our “Secure Site Guarantee” means if your website does get hacked, we’ll fix it for free. This gives you peace of mind, especially when combined with automated backups. We’ll always have a copy of your website. We include both (shameless plug!).
A good web hosting provider will consider these to be standard features. Make sure to check what’s included, as it might be in the VERY fine print of your contract.
We wish that everyone could find cheap, quality hosting. But as with everything, the cheaper you go, the lower the quality. Spare yourself the pain!
It pays to pay a little extra, especially for your web hosting.
