Help make history and support the local community by participating in The Community Give cyber-event on May 5th, 2015. This program was started by the Community Foundation to help increase philanthropy and give assistance to local non-profit organizations. For 24 hours, caring citizens and businesses can help raise money online for non-profits in the Fredericksburg region. This year’s goal is to reach over 7,500 donations totaling over $750,000. With a simple click of the mouse, donating to non-profits has never been easier!
Last year’s Community Give raised a record-breaking $544,581 in the Rappahannock River Region to help local charitable programs and non-profits. Donators can simply choose which local organization they would like to support and make a secure, online monetary donation to that organization through The Community Give website. The event begins at 12 am on May 5th and ends at midnight. Donors can contribute a minimum of $10 or as much as the bank or wallet allows. Every dollar donated will be given directly to the respective charity. Throughout the day, grant prizes will be awarded for non-profits totaling $100,000!
Choose to support a variety of non-profits in: health and human services, arts and culture, children and families, parks and recreations, education, animals, and more! Your support will help raise awareness of the needs in the community and build connections with area non-profits.
Local businesses should take advantage of this opportunity to help the community, which can also indirectly benefit their business. Supporting a charitable organization can help gain customer support in the local area and create a better outlook for your business. Donations to non-profits can also be written off as tax deductions, which is a definite plus! Although the deadline to apply for this year’s sponsorships has ended, look for next year’s sponsorship opportunities. The buy-in for this year’s different sponsorship levels ranged from $2,000-$50,000, and each level offers different perks that can help gain notoriety for local businesses.
So whether you are a caring citizen or a benevolent business, help support our local non-profits on May 5th with a simple click. It is our day to do the most good for our community!
